It's mostly due to a man with the initials S.W. Back in the 70's, he tried unsuccessfuly to have it removed while Eli Lilly still sold it. He was defeated and in my opinion, it was a matter of revenge. He took advantage of trying to have it removed when the time was right several yrs later. The FDA panel at the who voted to remove it, unfortunately, had the deck stacked against it retaining this wonderful, safe drug. The "studies(s)" that were used were taken from a small market area in Florida in older patients that the heart irregularities occurred. Well, where would you go to prove that Darvon caused this side effect in older patients. You got it! Florida! When Darvon was officially removed from the U.S. market, which drugs do you think took it's place that were much more dangerous. Again, you got it. Hydocodone, Oxycontin, etc. etc. How many more deaths do you think occurred from the more dangerous drugs and addictions on top of that. Look, as you please, at any drug list and type in which are the most popular drugs in the U.S. We have the "loss of backbone" fron a FDA panel that was pressured by a man seeking a vendetta against the original manufacturer that produced a product that helped millions of patients with pain that only Darvon/Darvocet helped. Millions of patients vs the extremely small percentage of those it "might" have caused some side effects. Such as injustice from the politically-charged FDA and for caving in to the pressure of one particular individual. What a cruel injustice. There you have it.

DannyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994411905363004564.post-71663252705190177202011-07-21T03:57:53.570-05:002011-07-21T03:57:53.570-05:00YES ! But I believe people in chronic pain are willing to fill out a few form fields if it will help bring Darvocet/Darvon back into the hands of those that sincerely are in need. I mostly was not happy with the people signing the petition as “Pee Wee Herman” and other silly names which completely ruins the credibility of the petition. It has taken me a while to get the money scraped up, but I have finally started a new site that will be EASY to sign a petition to bring Darvocet back…..
http://bringbackdarvocet.com/index.htm
It is not finished yet, but we can at least start gaining support and signatures.
